About

Recently, I've realized that I live a life that is counter cultural to the communities I am a part of. I also find myself at the kitchen counter a lot cooking, cleaning and talking with my family friends, hence this blog, Counter Culture.

A few years ago I blogged with my closest friend and it was so fun! Blogging was very therapeutic for me. It was my way of sorting my thoughts and being creative. I miss it when I don't take the time to do it.

Many things have keep me from blogging. The biggest one is the fear of putting myself out there. I don't want to be a famous blogger but I would love to communicate and receive feedback. I'm a big fan of e-mail for that very reason. I can express what I'm learning and thinking about which helps me to grow. I enjoy the conversation! I get all excited when a personal e-mail is in my inbox.

I don't believe I'm the expert in any field but I can't help but wondering if my story can help someone else feel a little less lonely. I believe its worth a try.

My name is Ann and I live in Michigan. I never thought I'd be a lover of Michigan even though I've lived here my whole life. I love to travel and my Mom was from Massachusetts so I just thought I loved the east coast. I still love the east coast but after marrying a Michigan lover I realize its an amazing state! I now love to collect all things Michigan.

I married a man named Greg who is truly my soul mate. I believe in soul mates which I know not everyone does. I just feel fortunate and grateful for the fit that we are. We have three girls which is a dream come true. We struggled with getting pregnant all three times so each time we conceived it was so miraculous (like all life is). I plan to talk about some of my struggles with parenthood which include the special needs of deafness and Down syndrome.

I've always been fascinated with the idea of friendship and if I had a different life I think I'd do research and create huge studies on it. Its fascinating to me and its a subject we can constantly learn about.

Last but not least I love Jesus. I'm not the best lover of Jesus but I try and hope that it reflects somehow in my life and on this blog.

I welcome you in this conversation and hope this can be a place of sharing.
