Remain

For the past few years I have chosen a word to focus on. It’s a pretty common idea I've seen amongst the bloggers I read. A person chooses a word and that is their "theme" for the year. Because of my rebellious nature, I originally thought they were all crazy and scoffed at how can you even begin to remember what your word is the entire year.

Until one year my favorite blogger chose a word and wrote about it periodically throughout that year. She used the word to focus on when things seemed hard and she was making decisions and since I had taken on her word I found how helpful it was.

This year my word to is "remain." I believe the Lord is asking me to remain where I am. Not in a stagnant way but to focus on what is right in front of me. I want to be available to my husband and the work we do, my children and their needs, our parents as they heal and grow older and our friends and family who are in the middle of their own lives.

This word goes beyond just remaining where I am though. I also want to remain in Him. I encourage you to read the whole chapter of John 15  These words stand out to me today so I will share them with you.

John 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete."

May you remain in the Lord and when you don't feel like remaining may you feel pursued by His Love. May you know that He won't leave you or forsake you. Know that you are always on His mind and in His heart.
Love,
